About this event
The Prevention Basics training, which is a collaboration between the Southeast PTTC and the Addiction Prevention Coalition, provides an overview of the key concepts in substance use and misuse prevention. Participants will be introduced to concepts of the public health approach to prevention, the continuum of care and the role of coalitions and providers in community-based prevention efforts. These concepts will be referenced as the participants are introduced to the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF).
After completion of the training participants will be able to:
1) Explain substance misuse prevention.
2) Describe the public health approach to prevention.
3) Determine where strategies and initiatives “fall” along the continuum of care.
4) Discuss how substance use prevention is informed by the research on risk and protective factors
